Dawn believes in primary prevention of chronic disease by coaching her patients on their individual health journey. By establishing a relationship with each patient, she helps them understand the value of setting goals based on evidence based research through a positive attitude and acknowledging the power of social factors in metabolic health. Her success-based focus is on lifestyle interventions related to treating diabetes and other chronic diseases.

Dawn enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband and being in nature. Dawn is an avid skier and reader of self-improvement both for her own benefit and to help guide her patients towards optimal health.

Biography

Dawn Taylor Fischer is a Family Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a veteran of the United States Army where she served for 12 years, 8 of those as an Army Nurse in various clinical environments. Dawn earned her Bachelor of Nursing Science at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas and her Master of Science in Nursing at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

Prior to joining San Antonio Family Physicians, Dawn worked in geriatric and acute care settings across the spectrum of healthcare including acute care, level 1 trauma, medical homes and in austere locations.
