At San Antonio Family Physicians, communication and customer service are the cornerstones of our approach. Our goal is to take care of all of our patients primary care needs.

Dr. Eric Bernstein began San Antonio Family Physicians with the “We Listen” philosophy because he realizes that by getting to know his patients, and taking the time to listen to their concerns, medical issues can be prevented and treated with better results. Our focus is on treating the cause of the problem, not the symptom.

We provide a personal approach, treating patients as we would expect our family members to be treated. At San Antonio Family Physicians we firmly believe in preventive medicine when dealing with patients. Many common medical problems people face can either be prevented or identified very early in the disease process, allowing physicians to effectively treat the patient.

San Antonio Family Physicians has incorporated the latest practices and technological advancements to better serve our patients. Not only are we primarily paperless, we have also incorporated a cutting-edge Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. This state-of-the-art medical office technology allows for web-based patient contact. Through our secure Patient Portal, patients can view lab results, make appointments and payments, ask questions directly of their provider, and request prescription refills. Our EMR system ensures timely follow-up and accurate monitoring of every patient’s medications and testing. At San Antonio Family Physicians, you can expect that we are using the latest, most effective technology, as we are always looking for new ways to improve each patient’s experience.

Our patient-centered approach along with our integration of technology puts San Antonio Family Physicians on the forefront of a national Family Medicine movement toward “patient-centered medical homes. Our goal is to provide primary care that is accessible, coordinated and most effective for both patient and physician.

Philosophy

At San Antonio Family Physicians we believe that listening to our patients is critical to building a strong relationship. By getting to know our patients, we are also able to focus on preventing health issues before they start. Dr. Bernstein and his staff also believe that an all-inclusive medical home is the key to successful patient care. Our patient-centered approach is what sets us apart from other primary care providers. We put the patient first, treating each with respect and dignity so they will leave feeling like a member of our family. SAFP delivers comprehensive and easily accessible patient care. We will take the time necessary to solve our patient’s problems.

Specialty Care Within Our Office

With our patients’ care and busy schedules in mind, San Antonio Family Physicians offers a variety of specialties and services within our office. Our goal is to provide a medical home for all of our patients in order to better serve their medical needs. As a Family Medicine Practice, we offer care in Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Gynecology, and Internal Medicine. Our Physicians also offer excellence in the care of Allergy, Diabetes, Hypertension, High Cholesterol, Thyroid Disease, COPD, Asthma, Attention Deficit Disorder, Obesity/Weight Loss, Sleep Disorders, Sports Medicine/Muscle Injuries, Skin Disorders, Facial Aesthetics and many more common problem areas. We welcome and strongly recommend annual exams for all patients, including school physicals and sports physicals.

Convenient In-Office Services

We understand our patients’ time is as valuable as our own. To make their care simple and worry-free, we offer a variety of services located conveniently within our office. Our patients’ labs can be drawn within our very own laboratory, allowing prompt and convenient results. These lab results are tracked electronically and are available to view online via our secure Patient Portal. We also provide skin and blood allergy testing, a variety of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Testing and multi-day glucose monitoring out of our office. It is our goal to meet all of our patients’ general medical needs within one primary location, with required testing carried out by our own trusted and trained staff whenever possible.

24–Hour Care

At San Antonio Family Physicians, we are here when our patient’s need us. Our staff is constantly concerned with the well-being of our patients and we provide a 24-hours emergency phone service allowing patients to reach us after hours. When appropriate, patient calls will be directly linked to one of our physicians or board-certified nurse practitioners. We also offer extended office hours in the evening several nights per week and on some Saturdays. We recommend that our patients who require emergency room attention go to CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital at Westover Hills, North West San Antonio’s new state-of-the art facility. At this hospital, our hand-picked hospitalists and specialists care for our patients and maintain a high level of communication with SAFP during and after a patient’s emergency room visit or admission.
